Anti Wrinkle Injections

What Are Anti Wrinkle Injections?

Botox ® is Allergan's brand name for the protein and neurotoxin Botulinum Toxin, many of Jays clients do not realise that most of the time when clients have a 'Botox' treatment the product used may not actually be the brand Botox.

There are actually a wide range of products available on the market such as Azzulre, Dysport and Boccouture- Jay uses different products for different clients depending on whether they have had a Botox treatment before and how deeply set their lines and wrinkles are.

As we age our skin loses its elasticity (collagen) and dynamic lines/wrinkles begin to appear; these are caused by the movement of the muscles beneath the skin for example when frowning or smiling.

Muscle Relaxing Injections are an incredibly effective method of reducing the appearance of these expression lines by blocking the nerve impulses to the facial muscles and thereby relaxing the muscle and preventing it from moving too much beneath the skin, in turn this reduces the prominence of existing lines whilst inhibiting the formation of new wrinkles.

Another misconception that some of Jays clients have about Anti Wrinkle treatments is that you shouldn't start to have them performed until you have quite deeply set lines/wrinkles, however the correct time to begin to have this treatment is when your first see lines begin to appear- once a line/wrinkle is deeply set it is much more difficult (if not impossible) for the treatment to remove the line which will take more time as well as more money.

There are many different areas of the face and neck where a client can have Anti Wrinkle treatments and Jay will advise you during the consultation process on which areas she feels should be treated.

(Please see the image below which illustrates which areas of the face can be treated.)

What should I expect on the day of treatment?

Jay works to the guidelines set out in the HEE legislation which does not actually come into effect until the end of 2018.

However Jay believes that it is of great importance to work in a manner which ensures client safety and has taken the necessary steps to put these new rules in to effect immediately.

When you arrive on your day of treatment you will be greeted and offered a drink and given some paperwork to complete.

You will then be taken into a private, confidential room for a consultation with Jays Prescriber who will ask you some medical and health questions, ensure that you are a suitable candidate for the treatment and then write a Prescription for your product.

Jay will then bring you into the treatment room where again she will ask you some medical and health questions and answer any questions that you may have regarding the treatment.

Once you are both happy to go ahead Jay will begin the treatment.

The actual procedure only takes 5 minutes and all first time clients comment how surprised they are that it does not hurt- the needles are very fine and the injections are not very deep, you cannot feel the product enter into your tissues.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment you may have some little marks on the skin where the needle has entered and maybe little bumps where the product has entered the skin, this is totally normal and will have disappeared after 30-60 minutes.

The effect of the product will begin between 2-5 days after the treatment but can take up to 2 weeks to take full effect.

After two weeks you should return to the clinic to have a top up treatment to ensure that you get your full 4 month effect out of the treatment.

Clients often worry that they may look silly and that everyone will notice that they have had Anti Wrinkle Injections, however Jay believes in a natural looking result so there is no need to worry about having a startled expression or being unable to move your face.

Consultations are free and Jay is happy to answer any questions you may have in person or via the telephone.
