The Process
What to Expect
Consultation and facial assessment
I assess the areas of concern, discuss your goals and design a treatment plan. I will be clear about what a thread lift can and cannot achieve for your specific concerns so your expectations are realistic from the start.
Mark and plan
The entry points and lifting vectors are carefully marked on the skin to map out exactly where the threads will be placed and in which direction the lift will be created.
Anaesthetic
Local anaesthetic is administered to the treatment area to ensure you are comfortable throughout. This is the most important step for a pain-free experience.
Thread insertion
Using a fine needle or cannula, the PDO threads are inserted beneath the skin at the pre-marked points. Barbed threads are then gently manoeuvred to lift and reposition the tissue.
Adjust and check
Once the threads are in place I assess the result and make any adjustments needed to ensure the lift is even and natural looking on both sides.
Trim and secure
Any excess thread is trimmed and the entry points are cleaned and checked. The area is then treated with a calming product.
Aftercare guidance
I give you detailed instructions for the days and weeks following your treatment, including what to avoid and how to sleep to protect your results while the threads settle.
Suitability
Is This Right for Me?
Suitable for adults experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have active skin infections in the treatment area, or if you have significant loose skin that would be better addressed surgically. A full consultation is required.

PDO Thread Lift FAQs
How long do results last?
Most clients enjoy results lasting between twelve and twenty-four months. Individual results vary depending on skin quality, age and lifestyle factors such as sun exposure and smoking.
Does it hurt?
Local anaesthetic is administered before the threads are placed, making the procedure manageable for most clients. You may feel some pressure and movement beneath the skin during placement. Any discomfort after treatment is usually mild and settles within a few days.
What is the recovery like?
Expect swelling, bruising and some tenderness for five to ten days. The area may feel tight or slightly uneven in the first week as the threads settle. Most clients are comfortable returning to work and daily activities within a week.
Will it look natural?
Yes, when performed correctly. A thread lift creates a subtle repositioning of the tissue rather than a dramatic change. The goal is always a rested, refreshed appearance rather than an obviously treated one.
Can threads be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Thread lifts work well alongside anti-wrinkle injections and filler for a more comprehensive rejuvenation plan. I will advise on the best combination and timing at your consultation.
What happens when the threads dissolve?
The threads dissolve gradually over four to six months and are absorbed safely by the body. The collagen that has built up around them remains, so results continue even after the threads themselves have gone.
