The Treatment

A subtle change with a significant impact

Temple hollowing is one of the most overlooked signs of facial ageing, yet addressing it can have a quietly transformative effect on the entire upper face. As we lose volume in the temples over time, the area between the brow and the hairline begins to appear sunken or shadowed. This pulls at the surrounding tissue, contributing to brow descent, a heavier appearance around the eyes and a more skeletal overall look.

Temple filler restores this lost volume using a carefully placed dermal filler in the temple area. The effect is subtle but significant. By rebuilding the natural contour of the upper face, the brow lifts slightly, the eye area appears more open and the overall shape of the face looks fuller and more youthful without any one feature looking obviously treated

Because the temples sit close to important anatomical structures, this treatment requires a high level of precision and a thorough understanding of facial anatomy. I take a slow, careful approach to every temple treatment and use only products from GPhC regulated pharmacies.

Results are immediate and typically last between twelve and eighteen months depending on the product used and your individual metabolism. Temple filler works particularly well as part of a broader facial rejuvenation plan, and I often recommend it to clients who are noticing changes in the upper face that other treatments alone have not fully addressed.

The Process

What to Expect

01

Consultation and assessment

I assess the temple area and upper face, discuss your concerns and explain exactly what temple filler can achieve for your specific anatomy. Previous treatments in the area are noted and taken into account.

02

Cleanse and mark

The treatment area is cleansed and the injection points are carefully marked to plan precise placement of the filler.

03

Topical anaesthetic

A numbing cream is applied and left for 15 to 20 minutes before any injections begin.

04

Filler placement

Using a fine needle or cannula, I place the filler carefully within the temple, building volume gradually and assessing the result as I go to ensure a balanced and proportionate outcome.

05

Review and blend

Once the filler is placed I assess both sides together and make any adjustments needed to ensure symmetry and a natural looking result.

06

Aftercare guidance

I explain how to care for the area over the following days, what to avoid and what normal post-treatment responses look like.

Questions

Temple Filler FAQs

Is temple filler safe?

Temple filler is a safe treatment when performed by someone with a thorough understanding of facial anatomy. The temples sit close to important blood vessels, which is why practitioner knowledge and a slow, careful technique are essential. I only use products sourced from GPhC regulated pharmacies.

Will it look obvious?

No. The goal of temple filler is to restore what has been lost rather than to create something new. When done correctly the result is a more balanced, rested-looking upper face rather than an obviously treated one.

Does it hurt?

The area is numbed before treatment. Most clients describe a mild pressure during the injections. The temples can occasionally feel a little tender for a day or two afterwards.

How long does it last?

Results typically last approximately twelve months depending on the product used and how quickly your body metabolises it.

Can temple filler lift the brow?

Indirectly, yes. Restoring volume to the temple supports the overlying tissue, which can give a subtle lift to the outer brow and make the eye area appear more open. It is not a replacement for a brow lift but it can meaningfully improve the appearance of the upper face.

Can I have this alongside other treatments?

Yes. Temple filler combines well with anti-wrinkle injections, cheek filler and other facial treatments. I will advise on the best combination and timing as part of your overall treatment plan.
